What will you do to help those in need in Sub-Saharan Africa who have lost so much due to HIV/AIDS?

How Many Kids Has AIDS Left Orphaned?

Due to the death rate and plague of HIV/AIDS the life expectancy is even shorter yet. The average life expectancy if your lucky is roughly 20-30 years. With people dying that young there honestly aren't many grandparents around to take care of these kids. Without parents how can they eat? How can they go to school and live and grow? These children can't grow up normally and enjoy childhood because they are too busy trying to raise their younger brothers and sisters. The orphanage rate due to parents that were lost because of AIDS is around 11.6 million children in Sub-Saharan Africa. How did this number get so out of control? Will we ever get it back to normal? Why is Africa slammed so hard with this epidemic? Life may not be fair but we can still try to help and make it easier for those suffering in Africa.

How AIDS Effects Our Generations

AIDS has made a big impact on everyone's life. The older generation might have thought that they could retire, but with this new AIDS, it has wiped out the whole middle generation. So now younger children live with their grandparents. A lot of kids have parents who have died when they were very young. Now the grandparents have to tale care of kids. Grandparents have to also be the mother and father to the kids. They might not be able to put the kids in school so the kids might have to work to go to school.

How does AIDs effect women in Sub-Saharan Africa?

Why is HIV/AIDS more common among women? Why is this plague affecting more women? How is this fair? The prevalence of HIV/AIDS in pregnant women started at 26% in 2002 dropping to 18% in 2006. HIV/AIDS is more common among women because most do not have the ability in whether or not they have save sex. In sexual relationships the male is the dominant. Also many girls are uneducated of the risks involved with sex. Girls did not tell people if they had HIV/AIDS for fear of being ostracized. Women will participate in prostitution in order to make money for food. Africa is trying to provide the right protection for men and women, for every man they would hand out 10 condoms. Over the past few years Africa has seen an increase in condom use. For women they would give them a cream or gel in hopes that it would protect them against HIV/AIDS. But this isn't enough. In rural area it is harder to reach the people and many families are poor farmers who cannot afford to send there daughters to school for proper education.
